Viewing Registrered Users If you want to view list of Bug Registry users, you
must choose menu View -> Users or click “View users” button on the
application toolbar. List of users is displayed in table form. You can change column order
or add/remove columns from the list. You can add new users, change user information or
delete users (if you have privilege to do it as Bug Registry user). For detailed description
of user privileges see “Adding users” section in this article.
You can refresh current view to display newly created users by choosing menu
View -> Refresh or by clicking “Refresh” button on the application toolbar.
Configuring User View You can configure user view in two ways.
1. You can use drag-and-drop method to change column order in the user view. To do this
you must click on the column that you want to move and drag it to the place you want and then
drop the column there.
2. You can choose menu View -> Add/remove columns. This will activate
“Add/remove columns” dialog box. In this dialog you can choose columns that you want
to view by moving them to Selected columns. You can exclude columns from the view by
moving them from Selected columns. You can change column order by moving columns up or
down in the list of Selected columns.
Adding Users To add new user you must first open or activate user view window and
then choose menu Edit -> Add user or choose Add user command from the context
menu. This will activate “Add user” dialog box. In this dialog box enter name,
description, group, login, password and e-mail address for new
user and click Save button. New user will be added to the user list. Name and description are
simple descriptive parameters for the user. Group defines the user privileges in Bug Registry
database. See detailed description of user privileges later in this article. Login and
password parameters will be used to access Bug Registry database. E-mail address will
be used to send e-mail notifications for this user.
If you are using MySQL database server the program will automatically create server user. If
you are using Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle you will need to create server logins before
you create Bug Registry users.
This function is available only if you have privilege for adding users. See detailed description
of user privileges later in this article. Also if you have purchased limited number of user licenses
you will not be able to add users after you reach the limit. To avoid this purchase more licenses.
User privileges in Bug Registry Bug Registry has some predefined user groups. Every group
has different user privileges for Bug Registry database access:
1. Administrators.
This group has all access to all Bug Registry functions. Bug Registry has predefined user
“Bug Registry administrator”. This user belongs to Administrators group and cannot be
deleted from the database.
2. Project managers.
This group has access to functions for managing bugs, users and projects (modules).
3. Developers.
Members of this group cannot manage users and projects (modules). They also cannot add or
delete bugs. They can only change bug status.
4. Programmers.
Members of this group cannot manage users and projects (modules). They also cannot add or
delete bugs. They can only change bug status.
5. Testers.
Members of this group cannot manage users and projects (modules). They can only manage bugs
(add new bugs, change bug information and delete bugs).
Editing Users To change user information you must first open or activate user
view window and then choose menu Edit -> Edit user or choose Edit user
command from the context menu. This will activate “Edit user” dialog box. In this dialog
box change name, description, group, password or e-mail address
for the selected user and click Save button to save changes. Selected user will be changed
in the user list. You cannot change user under which you are currently working with Bug Registry.
To change this user you must login under another user.
This function is available only if you have privilege for changing users. For detailed
description of user privileges see “Adding users” section in this article.
Deleting Users To delete user you must first select user that you want to delete
and then choose menu Edit -> Delete user or choose Delete user command from
the context menu. This function is available only if you have privilege for deleting users. For
detailed description of user privileges see “Adding users” section in this article.
Printing User View In Bug Registry you can print list of users as it is displayed
in the user view window by choosing menu File -> Print. Before printing you can
configure user view window. This allows you to select columns for the report.
You can preview generated list of users by choosing menu File -> Print preview.
You will see the generated document in the print preview window. It will either look right, or it
won't. If it doesn't then you can return to user view window and make the changes necessary to get
the document generating correctly.
Note: You will not be able to print or preview this report if you do not have any
printers installed on your computer. Please install a printer before trying to print any
reports.
